This project was a free choice project, which I also decided to do as one of my concentration pieces to turn in while doing AP Art in the next semester. My concentration idea is based off of the repetition of lines and shapes in nature. For example, in this photo there is the repetition of lines in the stalks of this plant, also the repetition in shapes of the hair like bristles at the ends of the plant. I took this photo when I was visiting with family during break and thought it turned out very well.
I really enjoyed the contrast I was able to reach with the sun being directly in front of the middle two, also while having the brightness of the sun allowed a very large change in color of the sky. I was also able to reach an angle which made the perspective of the photo seem almost as if you were looking up at the nature depicted in the photo rather than down upon it. I feel that doing this in my piece allowed the viewer to interpret the photo much more differently than if they were to seem as if they were looking down upon the nature in the image because it seems like the nature depicted in this photo has a stronger purpose than what we might think.
Rather than being something small and miniscule, it is larger than we could have imagined since our perspective of it changes as we look at this photo. I also liked how well the colors were brought through in this photo rather than some of the other I took since there are different variations of blue rather than one blank color.
Photography is definitely a passion of mine, so I really enjoyed the process of making this piece, as always with the photos I have taken in the past. I am also very excited to create more types of photos depicting nature in this way in the near future also. Photography is great in the sense that you never know how the photo might turn out, depending on the light available, the focus of the camera, and the angle in which the photo was taken.
