For this project we were suppose to do a "pet portrait". Since I don't have any pets at home, I chose to base my project off of a photo I took of two ducks while on vacation. The medium I chose to use for this project was stippling along with drawing in lines for the grass. While starting off this project, I have had experience with stippling before in the past, but not very much. I chose to use this photo rather than another photo of the same two ducks because this one seemed a lot more challenging, since it incorporated a lot of different types of textures and gradients such as was in the sky, the feathers on the ducks, the grass, the seats in the background, and the bark on the trees. I would say overall the bark on the trees was the hardest to accomplish, especially the right tree since each bark was specifically different than all of the others. Where as in the grass it was much easier (but took longer) to create the textures and movements of the grass. One thing I found difficult in creating this project was trying to give every element in the photo its definite value without making it appear blurred out by the value of other elements. Such as the grass with the ducks, or the seats next to the trees and sky. I chose to use black pen in this project which allowed for the greatest amount of contrast between the lighter and darker areas.
